It’s not about how others behave, it’s about how you align with who you really are.”— Ra Uru Hu The True Self in Relationships Throughout this series, we’ve journeyed through the mechanics of relationships — from the basic energies that influence our interactions to the spiritual dimensions that reveal deeper meanings. But now, we arrive at the core of it all: the true self in relationships. Ra taught that the true self is not some abstract concept; it is the very essence of who you are — a person designed by the universe to express in a unique, authentic way. This is the foundation upon which all healthy, meaningful relationships must be built. When we are aligned with our design, our relationships become natural and sustaining, rather than something we must struggle with or force. The Importance of Alignment At the heart of Human Design is the concept of alignment — aligning with your true nature so that you can make decisions that honor who you are and serve your highest purpose. When you are aligned, the relationships you form are automatically more authentic, harmonious, and fulfilling. Ra said: “When you’re aligned, your energy attracts the people and experiences that are in resonance with you. You no longer need to force or try; it simply flows.” But, alignment is a process, not an automatic state. It requires self-awareness, understanding your authority, and trusting your design. When you are out of alignment, the relationship dynamics will mirror that, often resulting in conflict or misunderstanding. The True Self and Authority The true self is tied directly to your Authority — the decision-making mechanism in Human Design. This is how you interact with the world in a way that reflects who you truly are, rather than what others expect or want from you. In relationships, your Authority is your guide to making the correct choices: Sacral Authority: Trusting your gut response, in the moment. Emotional Authority: Riding the emotional wave to clarity, and waiting for emotional clarity before making decisions. Self-Projected Authority: Listening to your own voice and being guided by your inner direction. Splenic Authority: Listening to your instincts, and trusting your body’s response.
